Contributory Pension Assets History Inception to Dec 2020
Contributory Pension Assets in Nigeria increased by N2.09 Trillion in the year 2020 representing a 20.44% Year over Year increase. The Increase brought the total pension assets as at December 2020 to N12.31 Trillion from the N10.22 Trillion as at December 2019. The 20.44% YoY increase for 2020 is higher than the YoY increase for the past two years, 18.30% for 2019 and 14.93% for 2018.
The Return on Investment (ROI) for Retirement Savings Account (RSA) for 2020 contributed to the 20.44% YoY increase. The average RSA ROI for 2020 was higher than the average RSA ROI for 2019 and 2018. RSAs make up about 77% of the total pension fund assets in the industry while Existing Schemes and Closed Pension Fund Administrators (CPFA) make up about 23%. New RSA registrations most likely did not contribute much the the YoY increase because RSA registrations YoY percentage increase was an all time low of 3.65%.
