Education Quality Assurance Office sends forth Retired Officers

The Office of Education Quality Assurance (OEQA) on Thursday organised a send-forth ceremony for its officers who retired meritoriously from active service.
In her keynote address at the event held at Folarin Coker Staff Clinic Hall, Alausa, Ikeja, the Director-General of OEQA, Mrs. Abiola Seriki-Ayeni expressed mixed feelings about the retiring officers, just as she gave gratitude to God for sparing their lives to celebrate their meritorious exit from public service.
She said, “On one hand, I am grateful to God on your behalf that you are exiting the Civil Service meritoriously after attaining 60 years of age or 35 years in service, as the case may be, which are the requirements for retirement. On the other hand, I have a nostalgic feeling wishing the hand of the clock could be rolled back so that we continue to have you with us”.
The Director-General, who was represented by the Coordinating Director, Education District I, Mrs. Adebara Ayodeji, added that the send-forth ceremony allowed the Office to acknowledge the contributions of the retirees to the development of the State and their exemplary conduct while in service.
Seriki-Ayeni admonished the retirees to pay proper attention to their health and well-being, noting that their body system must not be left redundant after having worked for a long time.
In her words, “I want to admonish you that as we get older, we must pay proper attention to our health in terms of what we eat, when we sleep, control of the state of our mind and regular exercise of our bodies”.
“We must take cognisance that our body system has been functioning in a particular way during our active years in service. We should therefore not become suddenly inactive because we have retired”, she cautioned.
The Director-General went further to encourage the retirees to venture into a trade or business which will fetch them an alternative source of extra income to keep them engaged and admonished them to be careful of fraudsters who might want to lure them into unprofitable business. She also charged them to continuously project the image of the State positively in their future endeavours.
The Director, Admin and Human Resource, OEQA, Mrs. Mojisola Bamgbose in her vote of thanks expressed appreciation to God for the success of the event while appreciating Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu as well as the Director-General, OEQA, Mrs. Abiola Seriki-Ayeni for honouring the retirees.
Responding on behalf of the retirees, Mrs. Ajose Rasheedat, appreciated the Office of Quality Education Assurance (OEQA) for organising such a wonderful ceremony for the retirees as they bow out of the public service, noting that they are elated and feel honoured.
She also gave glory to God Almighty for sparing the lives of the retirees, promising that they will be good ambassadors of the Office and Lagos State.
