Lagos Ministry of Education Celebrates Retired Staff

The Ministry of Education will continue to show appreciation for the contributions of its staff both serving and retired because it is the totality of individual effort that culminates into the state’s landmark achievements.

The Commissioner for Education, Mrs. Folasade Adefisayo stated this at a brief ceremony organised by the Ministry to celebrate staff who retired from Public Service in the year 2022.

Adefisayo said “I don’t believe in retirement, you are just moving into another sphere of life. You should get busy doing things you enjoy. Stay fit mentally to keep your brain alive. Do things that make you happy. Enjoy quality time with your grandchildren now that you have free time to do as you like”.

On his part, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education, Mr. Abayomi Abolaji advised the retirees to be full of gratitude for the gift of life and the grace of retiring in good health, physical and mental wellness.

His words, “Count yourself favoured because there are those who joined the service but couldn’t finish well. Maintain your social circle, make new friends, embrace volunteerism, get physically active and remember to reorganise your space at home for safe mobility to prevent falls”.

Responding on behalf of the retirees, the Retired Director, Child Guidance, School Counseling and Special Education Unit, Mrs. Olusola Somoye, commended the leadership of the Ministry, saying “We appreciate you for bringing us together like this, it is heartwarming to see my colleagues and be celebrated as ambassadors of the Ministry”.

Top officials of the Ministry present at the ceremony include the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics and Arts, Dr. Adetola Salau, Directors, Heads of Departments and Units among others.
