The report below is an old report which has been updated by PenCom, check here for the UPDATED report
PenCom for the first time releases, RSA Fund 1 (2018-19), Fund 2 (2016-19), Fund 3 (2018-19), & Fund 4 (2016-19), Return on Investment (ROI) for all PFAs in Nigeria
The National Pension Commission (PenCom) for the first time since inception of the Contributory Pension Scheme (CPS) has released the Return on Investment (ROI) for the pension funds being managed by Pension Fund Administrators (PFAs) but PenCom only released the ROI for Retirement Savings Account (RSA) Fund 2 for 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2019.
The RSA Fund 2 is the oldest Fund under CPS, it is the default fund under the Multifund structure for RSA holders who are below 50 years old. Multifund structure gives these RSA holders the right to request to be moved to RSA Fund 1 if they choose to. Any RSA holder below 50 years old who has not requested specifically to be moved to Fund 1, will be in Fund 2.
The report released by PenCom shows that the Top 5 PFAs with the highest average ROI for RSA Fund 2 for 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2019 are;
APT Pension Fund Managers Limited
AXA Mansard Pension Limited
Premium Pension Limited
AIICO Pension Managers Limited
Pensions Alliance Limited

If you would like to know the ROI for all funds managed by all PFAs in Nigeria, you should check out our reports. PensionNigeria tracks the ROI for all Funds managed by PFAs in Nigeria and we have been doing this since 2017. Link to our report on the ROI for all funds for 2017, 2018, 2019 and January to October 2020 is available at the end of this post while we are currently working on the reports for January to November 2020 which will be released next week.
We also compared the PenCom report with our report for RSA Fund 2 for 2017, 2018 and 2019 and we noted that only Nigeria Police Force Pensions Limited has a significant and material difference and only for the year 2019. The PenCom report says NPF Pension Limited has a negative ROI of -24.33% for 2019 while we reported that NPF has a positive ROI of 12.70%. The Fund price we used for our report is directly from NPF and we expect that the fund price PenCom used is the audited fund price but NPF Pensions audited Fund Financial Statements are not available on their website. This is an abnormal occurrence and we shall continue to monitor Nigeria Police Force Pensions Limited closely.
