ICAN International Women’s Day 2022 Message – #BreakTheBias

Happy International Women’s Day to the global female population of four billion and most importantly, the 104 million hard working, committed and resilient Nigerian women.

I equally felicitate with the 14,462 female ICAN members who are championing Accuracy and Integrity as financial advisors, tax experts, forensic professionals and board room gurus.

Over time, Nigerian women have demonstrated great candour, doggedness and unrelenting resolve to contribute to national growth and development.

In this Hall of Fame, we have late Mrs Olufunmilayo Ransome-Kuti, the great activist; Dr Ngozi Okonjo-lweala, the Director General, World Trade Organization; Aisha Yesufu, the socio-political activist; Chimamanda Adichie, the globally-recognized Nigerian writer; late Dr Stella Adadevoh, that gallant medical doctor who paid the supreme price to curb the spread of Ebola virus in Nigeria; late Chief (Mrs) Olutoyin Olakunri FCA, the first female Chartered Accountant in Nigeria, an ICAN Past President and a boardroom guru; late Otunba Ayora (Dr) Kuforiji-Olubi FCA, the first female ICAN President and also board room guru; Dr Oby Ezekwesili FCA, a courageous female Chartered Accountant positively impacting the country’s socio-political landscape, among several others.

Gender equality is not merely desired by the female population but a global imperative. We yearn for a world free of gender bias, stereotypes and discrimination. We crave a world where, irrespective of your gender, you have equal opportunities to achieve your aspirations and dreams.

Today, ICAN joins the global community to celebrate women and lend its voice to the urgency of breaking the gender bias. We call on the National Assembly to revisit all the gender bills that were recently turned down. We desire an equal world.

Together, with our male colleagues, we believe that we can create a better world. We believe we can build a society characterized by peace and progress, inclusive growth and meaningful development.

Congratulations, once again, to all women on this special occasion of the International Women’s Day 2022.

Together we can break the bias!

Mrs. Conformt Olu Eyitayo mni, FCA
57th ICAN President.
