United States Embassy in Nigeria, Friday 30 August 2019 gave reason why it still charges the new additional reciprocity fees for Nigerians seeking America Visa.
The Embassy stated that it has not received any diplomatic communication regarding a new fee schedule for Americans seeking Nigerian visas.
In a statement it said
“The US Embassy looks forward to receiving official diplomatic communication regarding a new fee schedule for Americans seeking Nigerian visas. Until such time, and confirmation of implementation, the reciprocity fees for approved visas to the United States will remain in place.”
If you have not been following the news,
US Embassy on 27 August 2019 introduced the new fees mainly because Nigerian FG charges much more for Americans seeking Nigerian Visa and FG has refused to reduce it.
On Thursday 29 August Nigeria FG disclosed that it has now reduced the fees for Americans seeking Nigerian Visas.
The U.S. Embassy in Abuja and the U.S. Consulate General in Lagos will be closed on Monday, September 2, 2019 to commemorate Labor Day, so we expect update on the fees on Tuesday 03 September 2019.
