Kebbi Assembly passes Pension Amendment Bill
The Kebbi State House of Assembly has passed an executive bills amending the State and Local Governments’ Contributory Pension Law. The bill was adopted on Thursday following the presentation of reports by the House Committees on Security and General Administration.
The chairman of the Committee on Security and General Administration, Muhammad Lolo (APC, Bagudo West), said the pension bill, which comprises 39 sections, was subjected to stakeholder consultations involving the Contributory Pension Board, Nigeria Labour Congress, Medical and Health Workers Union of Nigeria, and Pension Fund Administrators (PFAs).
He explained that the amendments included provisions for returning unreconciled pension deductions to the state Contributory Pension Board, as well as adjustments to several sections of the law.
The bill was unanimously adopted through a voice vote during plenary presided over by the Deputy Speaker, Muhammad Samaila (APC, Bagudo).
