House of Representatives Joint Committee on Public Procurement and Pension to Probe National Pension Commission during the time Chinelo Anohu-Amazu was DG.
House of Representatives Joint Committee on Public Procurement and Pension has disclosed that it will probe the activities of National Pension Commission (PenCom) from October 2014 to March 2017 when Mrs Chinelo Anohu-Amazu, was the Director General, for alleged “abuse, breach and violation of the Public Procurement Act 2007”.
Mrs Chinelo Anohu-Amazu was appointed the Acting Director General of National Pension Commission (PenCom) in 2012, as at that time she didn’t have the required number of years of experience to be appointed as the DG of PenCom based on the provisions of the Pension Reform Act 2007. She was later made the substantive Director General of PenCom in October 2014 after the Pension Reform Act 2014 which reduced the number of years of experience for the appointment of PenCom DG. She was removed by President Muhammadu Buhari in April 2017 along with other 22 heads of Federal government agencies.
The probe of Anohu-Amazu’s tenure is coming amid an ongoing probe into the activities of PenCom from April 2017 to date by the House of Reps Pension Ad-hoc Committee.
